โฆษณำ (Advertisements) หมายถึง การประกาศท่ีบอกให้สาธารณชน

ทราบเก่ียวกับสินค้าหรือบริการต่างๆ โดยผ่านทางสื่อมวลชน เช่น ทางหน้า
หนังสือพิมพ์ ทางโทรศัพท์ ทางภาพยนตร์ หรือ แม้แต่โปสเตอร์และแผ่นป้ายต่าง ๆ
ในเน้ือหาสาระเล่มนี้จะเน้นการอ่านโฆษณาย่อย (small advertisement หรือ small
ads) เช่น การสมัครงาน (job application) สินค้าท่ีเสนอขาย (things for sales)
บ้านเช่า-ขาย/ที่ดิน (House, Apartment, Condo, Land) การศึกษา (education)
และอาหาร (foods) เปน็ ต้น

โฆษณาโดยทัว่ ไปจะมีองค์ประกอบท่สี าคัญ ดงั ต่อไปน้ี
1) Headlines (ส่วนพำดหัว) หมายถึง คาวลีหรือประโยคที่ใช้เป็นส่วน
พาดหัวของการโฆษณา มักจะใช้ตัวอักษรขนาดใหญ่ เด่น สะดุดตา ท้ังนี้เพื่อใช้เป็นจุด
ดงึ ดดู ความสนใจของผู้อา่ น (ผู้พบเห็น) คาหรือถ้อยคาท่ีใช้มักจะใชว้ ธิ ีการท่ีผิด เช่น ผดิ
กฎเกณฑ์ของภาษาเขียนสะกดคาโดยไม่ถูกต้อง ใช้คาท่ีมีความหมายมากลบั คากันเปน็
ช่ือสินค้า (brand name) ดังเช่นบริษัทขายนมแห่งหนึ่งเอาคาว่า MILK มาเรียงใหม่
เป็น KLIM แล้วใช้เป็น brand name ของตน คาอ่ืนๆ เช่น Kake แทน cake Crème
แทน cream และ Kleen แทน clean เป็นต้น
2) sub headlines (พำดหัวรอง) ส่วนนี้ใช้ขยายความหรืออธิบายความ
ใน headline ใหผ้ ู้อ่านเขา้ ใจได้ชดั เจนมากขนึ้
3) Copy หมายถึง คาทีใ่ ชใ้ นการโฆษณา คนท่คี ิดคาโฆษณา เรียกว่า
copy writer
4) Illustrations (ภำพประกอบ) ข้อน้ีหมายถึง การนาเอาภาพมา
ประกอบการโฆษณาโดยอาจใชต้ ัวสินค้า หรือภาพของคนท่ีใช้สนิ ค้าชนิดนนั้ ๆ
