Playing in party is the more reliable way to play Dota2. In solo mmr simple plays practiced in a team will not work in most cases. Practicing and playing in a team is the dedicated way to play quality Dota2. Solo has its challenges but not to play good Dota2 at least in lower skill brackets. It's more for lazy and unorganized players or solo gamers in disguise who get hooked to a team game by accident.

not really. if you play with the same stack always, you will probably only know how to play with your stack and lag behind when out of your comfort zone.

solo mmr is still much more respected than party mmr. besides, playing on solo might make you more flexible since you will have to adapt to your random teammates.

pros also practice a lot of their games in solo, and the only way to get to the higher medals is by playing solo. something to keep in mind, i guess.

I know all the arguments and you are right with the higher respect for solo mmr. That's mainly because people think, party players get mainly carried by their team mates. But the problem with solo matches is that they are matches of random strangers without any mutual obligations often with communication and attitude problems. Tactics and strategies mostly don't exist. Matches are often won by luck and the question which team fails in team building and falls apart in raging and flaming is decisive for the outcome. In higher ranks where pros play this is not such an issue. But in lower skill brackets solo matches are only popular because you just can jump in and out without keeping a friends list and organizing joint activities.

not everyone will have their buddies to play a full stack and even so, a lot of people playing in stacks are quite bad and inflexible or/and have their skils and mmr all over the place.

party is probably a more casual approach to the game imo. where you and friends play to enjoy the game a bit. it's unlikely that many people will play with the same party everytime and even more unlikely that they will play against serious full 5 players parties that are very tryhard.

if you want to really learn the game and get better, you should play solo, not in party.

Thanks a lot guys. I did find some awesome new players in solo rank like shaman mid solo ending the game in 15mins, dark seer plays and invoker, tinkers in solo rank. I ll try to reach ancient by solo rank though it may take more time and patience. Ranked roles do help in solo rank cuz we get to play comfortably
