Every year, the spring blossom signifies a new intake of students to the prestigious magic school Kimberly. With reactions of awe and bewilderment, a ceremonious parade complete with magical beasts welcomes the newcomers to the institution. Among them is the mysterious Oliver Horn, whose indifference changes to fascination as he notices a peculiar figure—a girl wearing strange attire equipped with a Japanese sword.
From the entrance ceremony onward, Oliver realizes that not all is as it seems at Kimberly, as the emergence of labyrinths, monsters, and other threats endanger the new student body. Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru explores the intertwined fates of two warriors as they uncover the dark truths that lurk within the walls of the academy.

Reign of the seven spellblades is a light novel series that piqued my interest when the anime adaptation was first announced. As a kid I have always loved harry potter, and this was one of the few magic school stories that was similar to it. While it is far from perfect, I can confidently say that reign of the seven spellblades is the light novel that I have had the most fun with.

The story here is pretty solid at some parts but otherwise convoluted and boring. We have the whole animal rights vs old school storyline which is quite interesting. Normally I would have found it horrible but some plot twists made it alright. The whole noble vs commoner thing is not approached in a very creative manner but is still solid. The main issue is that they spend 90% of the first two books helping this one girl with all of her problems due to her mindset. Very minor spoilers for the first book/first half of the anime, nothing you couldn't see coming thanks to the heavy foreshadowing used in both.
I jumped headfirst into the series after a certain twist while watching the anime, excited to see how the story builds on things from there, but was incredibly disappointed because it just... Doesn't.

The manga by Esuno Sakae (Mirai Nikki, Big Order) is an adaptation of the light novels by Uno Bokuto and illustrated by Miyuki Ruria. The light novels also inspired an anime directed by Matsune Masato (Chronos Ruler, Chaos Dragon) at J.C. Staff studio, which premiered in July 2023.
Kadokawa released the first volume of the light novel in September 2018; the latest volume, number 13, will be released on December 8, 2023. The manga adaptation by Esuno Sakae started in 2019, and Kadokawa published the seventh manga volume in June 2023. Yen Press publishes both the novels and the manga in English. Volume 10 of the novels will be released on January 23, 2024, and the latest manga volume published was the sixth volume in August 2023.
